OSOC is generously supported by the Rotary Club of the South Cotswolds, who have enabled us to provide a computer for Indrayani Lower Secondary School in Amsapur. If you would like a challenge and would like to raise money for a good cause (OSOC or one of your own choosing), how about running around the world famous Badminton Horse Trials course? Rotary Club of the South Cotswolds have organised a charity run around the course each October for the past 20 years, raising hundreds of thousands of pounds for good causes. The jumps are optional! Action from the Badminton Horseless Trials
OSOC and the Rotary Club recently joined forces to raise money for earthquake relief in Nepal. The funds raised supported the relief operation by assisting people who have migrated from earthquake devastation to Narayangarh, and for OSOC (Nepal) to purchase goods to take up into the hills to provide emergency relief.
We also have links through friends who are at present buying goods in Kathmandu and Pokhara and taking them up into the hills. The combined fund raising supported them by sending money to help them buy more goods to take to the affected villages. We have featured five people as they are actively supporting their communities with relief aid. The pictures on this page illustrate what they are doing and the help they are giving.
- Kishor, a Pokhara hotelier is a former trekking guide
- Calan, a guide
- Santosh, a Kathmandu trekking agent and former guide
- Umesh, a Kathmandu hotelier
- Bikram, a guide
These are people we have known for up to five years, we have at times placed our lives in their hands!
